Williams was named the Big Ten's 2014 Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year, a first-team Capital One Academic All-American and one of three John Mackey Award finalists. He earned All-Big Ten First Team recognition from both conference media and coaches, the first Minnesota tight end to earn the honor since Matt Spaeth in 2006.
Leading the Gophers with 29 receptions for 471 yards, Williams accounted for 29.2 percent of the team's receiving yards during the regular season. He scored seven of Minnesota's 11 receiving touchdowns (63.6 percent). Williams also helped block for an offense that ran for 224.6 yards per game.
Williams is the Gophers' first first-team All-American since Spaeth in 2006. Williams is Minnesota's second All-American in two years, as Ra'Shede Hageman received third-team honors from the AP in 2013.
