Border Battle Results/History

In the annual battle for border supremacy, the University of Minnesota claimed the 2013-14 Border Battle over the University of Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers outscored the Badgers, 560-320, in the annual all-sports rivalry which tracks head-to-head results in 22 sports.

Haley Helverson scored in double overtime in a 1-0 win at Wisconsin.


The Golden Gophers received points from soccer, volleyball and women's cross country during the fall portion of the schedule. The soccer team claimed 40 points after Haley Helversen's goal in double overtime in a 1-0 win in Madison in October.

Minnesota pulled away during the winter season with a sweep of the Badgers by the women's basketball team. Wrestling notched a 28-6 win in January while the women's hockey team swept the four-game season series.

The Golden Gophers clinched the Border Battle with 120-0 run as the women's track & field, men's swimming & diving, men's tennis and women's tennis prevailed against Wisconsin. Women's swimming & diving also earned 40 points with its third straight Big Ten Championship.

With five wins in the last six years, Minnesota leads the all-time Border Battle series by a 6-4 margin.
