Thitiratanakorn Named WGCA All-American Scholar

MINNEAPOLIS (Gophersports.com) -Sarinee Thitiratanakorn of the University of Minnesota women's golf program has been named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), the organization has announced.

One of five Academic All-Big Ten honoree this year for the Gophers, Thitiratanakorn competed in all 11 tournaments for the Maroon & Gold this season and helped the team to its seventh NCAA tournament appearance. The Gophers finished tied for 11th at the NCAA Central Regional and were just two shots away from advancing to the NCAA championships.

Thitiratanakorn posted a season scoring average of 75.88 last year for Minnesota - a new career best for the junior and the ninth-best season scoring average in program history.

The Bangkok, Thailand native also led the Gophers to one of the best tournaments in school history this spring at the Central District Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Cypress Course in Sarasota, Fla.

Thitiratanakorn fired a two-under, 214 (69-74-71) at the tournament to set new career bests in score to par (two under), tournament score (214) and single-round score (69). Her 214 tournament score stands as the third lowest in school history while Minnesota's 875 team tournament score at the event also is the third best in Gophers' history.
