MINNEAPOLIS - Gopher alumni Te'Shon Adderley and Alena Brooks will both compete for their home countries at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland, this week. Adderley will represent the Bahamas, and Brooks will represent Trinidad.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games feature 71 countries competing in 17 different sports from July 24 to August 3. The Games have been conducted every four years starting in 1930, and the number of athletes in the Games has grown with almost every competition.

Adderley and Brooks will both begin competing on Wednesday, in the preliminaries for the 800-meter run. The four heats of the event will be trimmed to two for the semifinals on Thursday, and the 800m final is schedule for Friday.

Brooks will also compete in the 4x400-meter relay, which will have three preliminary heats on Friday. One final heat of the 4x400m will take place the following day.

Brooks was the 2014 B1G indoor champion in the 600m and also took seventh in the 800m at the 2014 NCAA indoor championships. Adderley also ended her Gopher career on a high note by being a part of the team's record-setting outdoor 4x400m relay, which placed 19th at the NCAA championships.
