Jose Mendez tied for 60th individually at the 29th World Amateur Team Championship in Karuizawa, Japan. The Gophers sophomore played for Team Costa Rica and posted scores of 71, 70, 69 and 71 to finish 5-under.

Other alumni of Minnesota's Gopher Invitational played in the event. These included two-time Gopher Invitational champion Corey Conners (Kent State/Canada), 2014 runner-up Gavin Green (New Mexico/Malaysia), Victor Perez (New Mexico/France) and Taylor Pendrith (Kent State/Canada).
