MINNEAPOLIS - Former Gopher women's cross country and track & field coach Gary Wilson has been inducted into the SUNY Cortland C-Club Hall of Fame. Wilson was one of seven new members honored during SUNY Cortland's 46th annual banquet and ceremonies over the weekend.

Wilson earned a bachelor's degree from Cortland in 1968 and a master's degree in 1974. He ran on the cross country team for three seasons and was a team captain as a senior when the Red Dragons won the 1967 SUNYAC title. Wilson also competed in varsity track & field for three years and was voted captain of both the indoor and outdoor squads as a senior.

The C-Club Hall of Fame inductees were introduced at halftime of the Cortland-Brockport football game on Saturday afternoon in addition to celebrating at a banquet Saturday evening.

Established in 1969, the C-Club Hall of Fame recognizes Cortland alumni who competed as student-athletes at the college and who have since distinguished themselves in their professions and within their communities.

Honorary members are recognized for their long and significant contributions to SUNY Cortland athletics. New C-Club members have been added annually and this year's ceremony brought the Hall of Fame roster to 237 alumni and 27 honorary members.

Wilson retired in the summer of 2013 following 28 years of coaching the Golden Gophers, and 45 years of coaching overall. He served as a track & field assistant coach specializing in distance running for the Gophers for the final eight seasons of his coaching career. He still serves as the executive director of the Roy Griak Invitational.

Wilson also is a member of the University of Minnesota "M" Club, USA Track & Field-Minnesota, Drake Relays and UW-La Crosse Halls of Fame and was a recipient of the University of Minnesota's President's Award for Service.
