Gophers 7th, Laorr Runner-Up at Minnesota Invite

Three Gophers placed in the top-10 individually, including a runner-up finish for senior Anna Laorr, as the 2014 Minnesota Invitational concluded Tuesday afternoon at the par-72 Minikahda Club.
As a team, the Gophers finished seventh with a team score of +48 (311-299-302--912). Laorr fired a final round 74 to finish the tournament at one-under par (70-71-74--215), one of just two golfers to finish below par. It was a new career best for Laorr, in finishing below par for the first time as a collegian. Tournament medalist Frida Gustafsson Spang of East Carolina set a new tournament record at -9 (69-66-72--207), helping lead the Pirates to the team title at +15 (294-287-298--879).
Competing as an individual, freshman Sabrine Garrison was tied for third overall at +4 (70-74-76--220), while freshman Celia Kuenster (74-75-52--221) also tied for sixth, one stroke behind Garrison. Sophie Kitchen shot 77 Tuesday to finish the tournament at +24 (83-80-77--240) in a tie for 62nd, while senior Sarinee Thitiratanakorn was one stroke back at +25 (84-77-80), placing 64th.
Senior Carmen Laguna rounded out the Gophers team scoring at +26 (87-76-79--242), in a tie for 65th along with freshman Heather Ciskowski (83-79-80--242), who competed as an individual. Other Gopher individual competitors were sophomores Emie Peronnin (T-53rd, 80-77-81--238), and Alexandra Buska (74th, 85-89-90--264).
The Gophers return to action in three weeks, taking part in the Windy City Collegiate Classic on October 6-7 at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill.
