RECORDS: University of Minnesota (4-5-0, Big Ten Conference 1-2-0); University of Iowa (8-1-0, Big Ten Conference 3-0-0)

The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher women's soccer team was shutout for the first time this season as they were defeated by the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday night at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Iowa's Amanda Lulek scored her first career goal in the 33rd minute after tracking down a loose ball in the box after a corner kick. The Golden Gophers fall to 4-5-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in conference play.

The start of the game was delayed 30 minutes due to severe weather in the area. Because of the delay, the presentation honoring the senior class was moved to halftime and post game. All four seniors, Katie Thyken, Olivia Schultz, Taylor Wodnick and Becca Roberts were in the starting eleven for the Maroon and Gold.

Despite the loss, the Gophers put together their best complete game of the season with 22 shots on the evening. Nine Gophers contributed to the 22 shots including senior Katie Thyken who had six shots on the evening. Five of the 22 shots were on target with sophomore Haley Helverson contributing two shots on goal.

This was the first time this season that the Gophers were shut out as they scored at least one goal in each of their first eight games.

The Gophers will hit the road next weekend to take on Indiana and Purdue.

GOPHER STAND OUT PERFORMANCES

WHAT IS NEXT:
