Big Ten Announces TV Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (Gophersports.com) - The 2014-15 Gopher Hockey season will feature 27 regular-season games televised between the Big Ten network, the FOX Sports network and the ESPN network while the entirety of the 2015 Big Ten Ice Hockey Tournament will be aired on the Big Ten Network, according to announcement by the Big Ten Conference on Monday in conjunction with all six conference schools.
FOX Sports will lead the way in Gophers television coverage this season with 12 games while the Big Ten Network will broadcast 11 regular-season games featuring the Maroon & Gold over the course of the season. The ESPN network follows up with another four Gopher games.
Minnesota's road non-conference games (at St. Cloud State on Oct. 31, at Minnesota Duluth on Nov 15, at Boston College on Nov. 28 and at Northeastern on Nov. 29) are controlled by each school's respective conference. Those television schedules will be announced at a later date by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and Hockey East, respectively.
The Maroon & Gold kick off the 2014-15 television schedule with the home opener against Bemidji State on Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network while the series finale will air the following night on FOX Sports North PLUS with a 7 p.m. puck drop. The Gophers' home game against St. Cloud State on Nov. 1 will be shown on FOX Sports North at 4 p.m.
Minnesota's two-game home series with Notre Dame will see the teams play on the Big Ten Network to open the series on Nov. 7 (7 p.m.) while the finale on Nov. 9 (4 p.m.) will be on ESPNU. The Gophers will then host Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 14 on FOX Sports North PLUS with a 7 p.m. puck drop while the Big Ten opener at Michigan State on Dec. 5 will see the Maroon & Gold play on FOX Sports Detroit with a 6 p.m. start (shown on tape delay on FOX Sports North PLUS).
The new year will kick off with Minnesota hosting Merrimack to open the Marriuci Classic on Jan. 2 - that contest is set for 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North PLUS.
The Gophers then play at Michigan (Jan. 9: 5:30 p.m., BTN; Jan. 10: 3 p.m., FOX Sports North PLUS) and at home against Wisconsin (Jan. 16: 8 p.m., BTN; Jan. 17: 5 p.m., FOX Sports North) before hosting the second annual North Star College Cup the following weekend. Minnesota's tournament opener against Minnesota State is set for 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North PLUS while the Maroon & Gold will play at either 4 or 7 p.m. the following day on FOX Sports North.
The road series at Wisconsin will feature a pair of games on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 while Minnesota's home series with Ohio State will see the teams play on BTN to open the series on Feb. 6 (8 p.m.) and close it on FOX Sports North PLUS on Feb. 7 (7 p.m.). The Gophers then host Michigan on Feb. 13 (8 p.m.) on BTN and on FOX Sports North PLUS (7 p.m.) on Feb. 14. Again on the road, Minnesota and Penn State will play at 5:30 pm. on Feb. 20 on BTN and again at 4 p.m. on Feb. 21 on ESPNU.
The final five televised games of the regular season will be a pair of 8 p.m. games on BTN against Michigan State, a 4 p.m. game at Ohio State on March 6 on ESPNU and the finale of that series at 5 p.m. on ESPNews. The regular-season finale against Penn State on March 14 will be shown on FOX Sports North PLUS with a 7 p.m. puck drop.

The 94th season of Gopher Hockey will see the Maroon & Gold look to defend the inaugural Big Ten regular-season conference title. Minnesota has won three-straight regular-season crowns entering the 2014-15 campaign and has reached the NCAA Frozen Four in two of the last three seasons including a national runner-up finish last year in Philadelphia.
