Top-ranked Minnesota put its undefeated record and its 16-match dual winning streak on the line last Sunday when it faced its first top 10 opponent on the road this season, No. 6 Penn State. The Gophers became the first team in three years to walk out of Happy Valley with a win, earning a hard-fought 17-16 victory over the Nittany Lions.

No. 1 Chris Dardanes opened the dual with a victory at 133, followed by major decisions at 141 from No. 4 Nick Dardanes and at 157 from No. 1 Dylan Ness. The bonus points that came with those major decisions proved critical by the end of the evening. Two other Gophers, No. 17 Nick Wanzek at 165 and No. 12 Brett Pfarr at 184, won their matches, positioning Minnesota to knock off PSU and extend its unbeaten streak against the Lions to 13.

The Gophers return to Minneapolis this Friday, when they will host No. 2 Iowa at Williams Arena at 6 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
