Gophers to Host B1G Triple Dual

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Head coach Kelly Kremer and the Golden Gophers will host Purdue and Northwestern in a B1G Triple Dual this Friday and Saturday at the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center. Competition will begin Friday, Jan. 30 at 5:00 p.m. CT and will continue Saturday, Jan. 31 with diving at 11:00 a.m. CT and swimming starting at noon.
Both the Minnesota men's and women's teams are coming off losses to North Carolina State last weekend in Raleigh. The Gopher men will head into the B1G Triple Dual with a 4-3 record on the season, while the women's team is 6-1.
BOILERMAKERS AND WILDCATS
In last years B1G Triple Dual, the Gophers took on Purdue and Wisconsin. Both Gopher teams defeated the Boilermakers and Badgers. On the men's side, highlights included Daryl Turner placing first in both the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. For the women, Rebecca Weiland took first in the women's 100 fly, and teammate Tori Simenec followed for second.
While the Gopher men hold a #23 ranking according to the CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America), last updated Jan. 22, the Purdue Boilermakers (4-1) and Northwestern Wildcats (5-4) are currently unranked.
The Minnesota women's latest ranking on Jan. 11 has them in the #11, with Purdue (4-2) receiving votes and Northwestern (6-4) unranked. The Northwestern women are coming off a win over #21 Iowa.
