Team / Series Notes
• Tonight's game was the 64th all-time meeting in men's basketball between Minnesota and Nebraska, with the Gophers holding a 50-14 lead in the series. Minnesota has a decisive 35-7 advantage in games played in Minneapolis.
• Head coach Richard Pitino's record at Minnesota improved to 39-22, while his three-year overall record now stands at 57-36.
• Tonight's game was Coach Pitino's third (1-2) against the Cornhuskers, and he is now 12-18 versus teams from the Big Ten.
• Minnesota recorded its third-straight home win to improve to 12-2 at Williams Arena this season. The Gophers are now 30-5 at The Barn under Richard Pitino.
• The 42 points allowed by the Gophers was the fewest surrendered in a game during Richard Pitino's tenure. The Gophers allowed 44 points in a 65-44 win against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Dec. 28, 2013.
• The attendance of 13,253 was the second largest home crowd this season for Minnesota. A crowd of 13,421 attended the win against Illinois last Saturday (Jan. 24).
• The Gophers, who entered the game ranked second nationally in steals per game (10.6) and tied for seventh in assists (17.3), came up with 10 steals and dished out 13 assists versus the Huskers.
• The Gophers, who entered the game shooting 65 percent at the free throw line, made 14-of-17 (.824) to help secure their third-straight Big Ten home win.
• Two Minnesota players reached double figures for points, and seven of the 12 players who played in the game for the Gophers scored points.
• The Gophers made just 4-of-13 (.308) three-pointers. It was just the second time in the past 22 games that Minnesota made less than six treys in a game.
Individual Notes
• Senior guard Andre Hollins had 12 points and led the Gophers with six assists. The scoring total was Hollins' fifth-straight double-figure game and is his 15th this season (79th career). He added five rebounds and tied his career high with two blocked shots.
• Hollins increased his career point total to 1,640, and he remains sixth on Minnesota's all-time list.
• Freshman guard Nate Mason scored eight points off the bench.
• Senior forward Maurice Walker led all players with 19 points, which was just three off his career-high total. Walker made 7-of-10 field goal attempts and was 5-of-5 at the free throw line, while leading the team with eight rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocked shots.
• Senior guard DeAndre Mathieu had seven points, two assists and a pair of steals in his 20th starting assignment of the season.
• Junior forward Joey King finished with nine points and three rebounds.
