Gophers in the Polls: October 13

Records were set and winning streaks continued as many of the Gophers ranked teams found success both at home and away. Below is a recap of how they did.

Women's Hockey - #1 (USCHO.com), #1 (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine)
Last Week: The Gophers blanked St. Cloud State in a two-game sweep at Ridder Arena, winning by scores of 7-0 and 11-0 on Friday and Saturday, respectively. In the finale, the eight goals in the second period set a new NCAA record for scoring in a single period. As part of their efforts, freshman Sarah Potomak earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors after scoring six points on the weekend.
Coming Up: Minnesota continues WCHA play on the road at Ohio State (2-2-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) this weekend, with games scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at OSU Ice Rink.
Volleyball - #11
Last Week: Minnesota was nearly flawless as it traveled eastward this past weekend, sweeping both Maryland and Rutgers on the road on Friday and Sunday. The victories marked four straight wins and victories in 13 out of the Gophers' last 14 matches.
Coming Up: The Gophers will have two Border Battles this week, traveling to Madison to face Wisconsin on Wednesday night (7:00 p.m.) before hosting the Badgers on Saturday night (8:00 p.m.) at the Pavilion.
Soccer - #11
Last Week: Minnesota climbed three spots up the rankings this week after two shutout victories, a 3-0 decision on Thursday at Nebraska and a 2-0 win at Iowa on Sunday afternoon.
This Week: The Gophers are back at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium for the first time in 18 days, hosting Michigan State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. before welcoming Michigan on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Men's Hockey - #15 (USCHO.com), #13 (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine)
Last Week: The Gophers fell to Vermont, 3-0, in their season opener at the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Mariucci Arena.
Coming Up: Minnesota plays a home-and-home weekend series against rival Minnesota-Duluth, hosting the Bulldogs on Friday evening at Mariucci before traveling north for Saturday night's contest. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.
Women's Cross Country - #23
Last Week: The Gophers did not compete this past week.
Coming Up: Minnesota heads to the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and the Tori Neubauer Invitational on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
