Head coach Marlene Stollings and Rachel Banham, Shayne Mullaney and Carlie Wagner traveled to Chicago for Big Ten Basketball Media Day this week. Coaches and student-athletes enjoyed welcome dinners on Wednesday night before a busy morning of media activities on Thursday.
Photos, videos and roundtable interviews kept the Gophers busy. GopherSports.com asked each a few questions at the roundtable.
What's a road game this season you're looking forward to playing?
RB: I'm looking forward to playing Duke, because it's a historical gym, and obviously Duke's really good.
SM: The away game I'm most looking forward to is Duke. I feel like that's been on our team's radar. We're all looking forward to playing there.
CW: I'm most looking forward to the Duke game as well—big ACC team, it's supposed to be an awesome court. It's exciting.
What's a home game you're looking forward to playing?
RB: We play Ohio State at home for senior night. I'm excited for that game. It's senior night, it's Ohio State. That'll be fun. It's always good playing Ohio State, and we've had a pretty good past with them at home. I'm excited for that game.
SM: I'm most looking forward to playing Wofford at home right now because it's our first game of the season and I can't wait to start the season.
CW: I think the home game I'm looking forward to the most is the Iowa game. It's our pink night, and we had success against them last year at home, so I think it'll be a fun game.
Are there any Big Ten opponents you've enjoyed catching up with in Chicago?
RB: I've talked to the Wisconsin girls a lot. I'm pretty good friends with them through a mutual friend, which is funny because it's Wisconsin. But they're really cool. I've had fun talking to them and said hi to a few other girls. Just good people here.
SM: It's been fun to talk to the Iowa girls. I used to play with one of them, Kali Peschel, and I've gotten to know Ally Disterhoft.
CW: I've kind of been following Rachel and Shayne around because I don't know anybody that well yet. But I kind of know Kali Peschel. I played her in high school.
