Minnesota Earns No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament

The Gophers will face Green Bay on Friday
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's basketball team earned the No. 4 seed in the Sacramento 2 Region and will face No. 13 seed Green Bay (25-8, 17-3 Horizon League) on Friday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. Tipoff times are TBA and will be announced at a later date.
The NCAA Tournament First and Second rounds will be held on Friday, March 20 and Sunday, March 22 at Williams Arena, the NCAA announced during the selection show on ESPN. No. 5 seed Ole Miss (23-11, 8-8 SEC) and No. 12 seed Gonzaga (24-9, 14-4 WCC) will also compete at Williams Arena on Friday. Winners of both First Round games advance to the NCAA Second Round Sunday, also at Williams Arena.
Minnesota finished the season with a 22-8 record and was 13-3 at Williams Arena.
The Golden Gophers are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018 and 11th in school history. In addition, it marks the first time Minnesota will host an NCAA Tournament game since 2005 when the Gophers were a No. 3 seed, its highest in program history.
Minnesota is 12-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, which includes a run to the Final Four in 2004. The Maroon and Gold have advanced to the Sweet 16 three times (2003, 2004, 2005), while also competing in one Elite Eight (2004). Minnesota made its first NCAA Appearance in 1994.
NCAA Regionals will be played in Fort Worth, Texas and Sacramento, Calif. March 27-30. The Final Four is April 3-5 in Phoenix, Ariz.

ESPN Productions will broadcast all 67 games of the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. This marks the 31st straight year (since 1996) ESPN is the championship's exclusive television home. All games will also be available online via the ESPN app.
Tickets for the general public can be purchased at gophersports.com starting at 10 a.m. CT Monday morning.
