The Minnesota women's golf team will put the wraps on its 2015 fall season next week as they travel to the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The 54-hole event will be contested at the par-72, 6,277-yard Boulder Creek Golf Course over three days, beginning Sunday afternoon.
Live scoring throughout the tournament can be found at https://www.birdiefire.com/tournament/15355/ .
The Gophers are part of a 19-team field, consisting entirely of Division I programs. Besides the host UNLV Rebels, the Big Ten is represented by Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska. Rounding out the field is Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Long Beach State, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, Tennessee, Texas, UC Irvine, and Vanderbilt.
Minnesota is looking to repeat its performance from a year ago, when the Maroon and Gold claimed a share of the tournament title. The combined round of 278 by the five Gophers set a new program record for lowest 18-hole round and lowest 54-hole score (295-290-278). Two members of the Gophers lineup recorded top-10 finishes a year ago in Celia Kuenster (3rd, -4) and Sabrine Garrison (6th, -2).
Garrison and Kuenster will take to the course along with sophomore Heather Ciskowski, freshman Muyu Wu and junior Emie Peronnin. Additionally, freshman Maggie Heggerston will compete individually.
The Gophers last competition on the course came three weeks ago, finishing 13th at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
