Gophers Tied For 12th After First Round

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - After 18 holes at the Boulder Creek Golf Club outside Las Vegas, the Minnesota women's golf team is tied for 12th place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Gophers finished the round with a team score of four-under-par 284, tied with Long Beach State.

Sophomore Sabrine Garrison led the way for the Gophers, firing a three-under-par 69 to tie for 18th place. Freshman Muyu Wu was two strokes behind, opening the tournament with a one-under 71 to tie for 40th place. Junior Emie Peronnin and sophomore Heather Ciskowski each carded even-par 72 to tie for 50th, while sophomore Celia Kuenster sits tied for 94th at four-over-par 76. Competing individually, freshman Maggie Heggerstoin is one stroke back at five-over-par 77, tied for 99th.

Michigan and San Jose State are tied atop the leaderboard at 13-under-par, while SJSU's My Leander is leading the field at seven-under-par.

The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown continues Monday with second round action set to begin with 8:00 a.m. PT tee times.
