Gophers in the Polls: October 27

One team enters the polls while another makes a big jump up the rankings as the Gophers continue to have numerous ranked programs heading into the final week of October. Below is a summary of how each program did last week.

Women's Hockey - #1 (USCHO.com), #1 (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine)
Last Week: The Gophers swept in-state rival Minnesota Duluth at home last weekend by scores of 5-2 and 6-1 to improve to 8-0 on the season.
Coming Up: Minnesota travels to North Dakota this weekend for a WCHA road series in Grand Forks, with games scheduled for 7:07 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Volleyball - #4
Last Week: Minnesota moved up five spots in the national rankings after a pair of victories on the road. The Gophers defeated then-No. 3 Nebraska on Friday night - their first win in Lincoln since 1980 and tying the Gopher record for highest-ranked opponent win - and followed that up with a sweep at Iowa on Saturday.
Coming Up: The Gophers, who sit atop the Big Ten standings at 9-1, begin a four-match homestand this week hosting Indiana on Wednesday night and Purdue on Sunday afternoon.
Women's Swimming & Diving - #17
Last Week: The Gophers place 17th in the first CSCAA poll of the season, having gone 1-1-1 through three duals so far this month.
Coming Up: Minnesota travels to Iowa for a 5:00 p.m. dual on Friday evening in Iowa City.
Men's Hockey - #20 (USCHO.com)
Last Week: The Gophers swept Northeastern at Mariucci Arena for their first victories of the season, posting a 4-0 shutout on Friday night before winning 4-3 on Saturday in the finale.
Coming Up: Minnesota is off this week before heading to Notre Dame for a two-game series next weekend, November 6-7.
Women's Cross Country - #22
Last Week: Abby Kargol, Courtney Alama and Bailey Ness earned top-30 finishes as the Minnesota women's cross country team hosted its eighth annual running of Jack's Twilight Run Friday evening at the Les Bolstad Course.
Coming Up: The Gophers kick off the championship portion of the season with the 2015 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Nov. 1. The women's 6K race is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. CT at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Chicago's north side hosted by Northwestern.
