Gophersports.com caught up with freshman, Centennial, Colo. native, Kailee Sharp about her soccer experience and what brought her to the University of Minnesota as a Division 1 athlete.

How did you first start playing soccer?
Growing up, my mom was a coach, so she signed me up and I never looked back!

Did you play any other sports growing up?
Growing up, I played volleyball, lacrosse, and was in gymnastics.

Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
I love the state, weather, coaches, players and the big school environment that the University of Minnesota provides.

Have you chosen a major or leaning towards a specific area of study?
I don't have a specific declared major quite yet, but I hope to one day become a psychiatrist for war veterans.

What do you like to do in your free time when you're not playing soccer?
I'm a really big proponent of watching Netflix and just relaxing.

What are you most looking forward to as a UMN soccer player?
Being part of an amazing team and competing in the Big Ten!

Who was your athletic role model growing up?
Hope Solo.

What's your favorite part about playing soccer?
My favorite part about the sport is having to work together as a team to achieve your goals.

What type of music most pumps you up for games?
Anything!

Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I usually just like to listen to music before games.

What are some landmarks in Minnesota you hope to see while living here?
I'm definetely excited to head to Mall of America a lot and all the beautiful lakes!

What professional sporting teams do you currently root for? Do you think you'll be converted to cheer for the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, etc?
Being from Colorado, I root for the Broncos, Rockies and Avalanche. Now that I live in Minnesota, I'll root for Minnesota Wild and the Vikings as well!
