Gophers Finish 13th at Windy City Classic

WILMETTE, Ill. - Freshman Muyu Wu carded a one-under-par 71 to lead the Gophers on the final round of the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at the Westmoreland Country Club. Meanwhile, sophomore Heather Ciskowski continued to excel in her home state, as she earned her second-straight top-20 finish.
Ciskowski, a native of nearby Barrington, finished the final round at one-over-par to tie for 19th place at -1 (72-70-73-215). It is her best finish to par along with her lowest career 54-hole score, coming two weeks after placing 18th at the Mercedes-Benz Championships in Knoxville.
The Gophers' second-top finisher was sophomore Sabrine Garrison, who tied for 55th place at eight-over-par (72-75-77-224). Two strokes behind her was freshman Muyu Wu, whose 71 on Tuesday vaulted her 12 spots up the leaderboard to a tie for 61st (78-77-71-226). Sophomore Celia Kuenster was one stroke back, tied for 64th (79-71-77-227). Junior Emie Peronnin completed the Gopher lineup, placing 77th on the week (79-76-80-235).
Overall, the Gophers finished the tournament in 13th place (301-292-298-891), three strokes ahead of Wisconsin. Host Northwestern joined Arizona and Georgia in a three-way tie for first place at -12, while Georgia's Bailey Tardy won medalist honors at 12-under-par.
The Gophers will break for three weeks before heading to Las Vegas for their final fall tournament, competing in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown from October 25-27 at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
