MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - Leon Bristedt led the Big Ten and tied for first in the nation with three goals over the weekend, earning the Gopher Hockey sophomore the Big Ten Third Star of the Week.

The accolade marks the first career Big Ten weekly honor for the Stockholm, Sweden native.

Bristedt tallied his first career multi-goal game on Friday night for the Maroon & Gold, scoring two goals in a 4-3 loss to the No. 18 Irish. The forward initially tied the game at 1-1 and then sparked a two-goal rally in the third period to briefly tie the game for a second time. Bristedt added Minnesota's first goal of the night in Saturday's 4-1 victory at Notre Dame.

The sophomore, who has six points (four goals, three assists) in seven games this season, leads all Big Ten players with a .286 shooting percentage.

Michigan State's Michael Ferrantino was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week while Wisconsin's Matt Jurusik earned Big Ten Second Star of the Week.

The Gophers return to action next weekend with a home-and-home series with Minnesota State. The Maroon & Gold hit the road for the series opener on Friday, Nov. 13 before closing out the series at Mariucci Arena on Saturday, Nov. 14. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
