Softball Signs Seven to NLIs

The University of Minnesota Gopher softball team has signed seven student-athletes to National Letter of Intents for the 2016-17 season.

The class includes two Minnesota natives, two from Iowa, one from Wisconsin, one from Illinois and one from Oregon.

"We are excited to make our class of 2020 official. This group is composed of high level pitching, speed, power and tremendous athleticism," head coach Jessica Allister said. "These student-athletes understand the elite educational opportunity available to them here at the University of Minnesota, and have the ability to make an immediate impact on all aspects of our progam. The future is bright for Gopher Softball."

Carlie Brandt out of Le Sueur, Minn., is a four-time all-conference selection, two-time conference MVP, five-time all-section and a three-time all-state winner. She has also been named a 2014 KEYC Prep Athlete of the Week and a 2015 Star Tribune Athlete of the Week.

Brandt holds Le Sueur-Henderson High School records for career hits, doubles, triples, home runs and RBI. She also holds school pitching records for career strikeouts and strikeouts in a season. She has pitched 30 shutouts, five no-hitters and one perfect game.

Brandt was also was a six-time letter winner in tennis winning three conference MVP awards and advanced to state twice along with being a four-time letter winner in basketball earning all-conference in three seasons.

Katelyn Kemmetmueller out of Rogers, Minn., is a four-time all-conference selection, five-time academic all-conference selection and a two time all-section honoree. She was named Mississippi 8 Conference MVP last season and was named the conference pitcher of the year the two prior seasons.

Kemmetmueller holds Rogers High School single season records for batting average, hits, RBI and ERA. She already had career records for hits, doubles, triples, RBI and extra hits along with pitching career records for wins, ERA and shutouts. She has played on travel ball on Extreme 98 winning the USSSA World Series in 2014 and now plays for the Minnesota A's.

Kendyl Lindaman out of Ankeny, Iowa, is a four-time all-conference, four-time all-state and three-time all-area winner. She was named the Iowa 5A player of the Year three straight years and is a two time Flo-Softball All-American.

Lindaman already holds the Iowa single season (24) and career home run (56) records. The 56 career home runs has her sitting in fifth all-time nationally. She also holds the NFHS record for career walks at 180. She helped her team win the 5A State Championship in 2012 and was named the captain of the all-tournament team that year as just an eighth grader.

Amber Fiser out of Van Horne, Iowa, has been named all-conference and all-state for four straight seasons along with being named academic all-district playing for Benton Community High School. She has played travel ball for the Eastern Iowa Barracudas, Chicago Beverly Bandits and in national tournaments for the Quad City Firebirds and Iowa Premier.

Fiser's numbers have improved every season after putting up an impressive 2.05 ERA and 193 strikeouts her eighth grade season, she boasted an ERA of 0.16 with 313 strikeouts as a junior last season.

Kaylen Krueger out of Green Bay, Wis., is a three-time first team all-conference winner, two time all-area winner and was named an All-American her junior season earning third team honors from the NFCA playing for Green Bay Preble.

Krueger played on the Wisconsin Bandits and Jr. Phoenix for travel ball and was a part of winning the Northern Nationals Championship in 2014.

Kendal Judge out of Plainfield, Ill., is a three-time all-conference and all-area selection playing for Providence Catholic High School along with being named all-state once. She has numerous records for Providence Catholic High School including the career strike out mark (584) with one more season to go in her career and holds the single season strike out record with 245. She has 13 career shutouts, six no-hitters and one perfect game where she struck out 20 of 21 batters faced in the IHSA Regional semi-final game.

Judge was invited back-to-back years to the West Coast National Elite Future Camp that only one percent of recruits in the country get asked to take part in. She played travel ball for the three-time Chicago State Metro ASA Champion Mizuno Hawks softball team, along with the Colorado Fireworks and has won over 50 tournament championships during her travel ball career.

MaKenna Partain out of Banks, Ore., is a three-time first team all-conference selection, three-time all-state selection and a Max Preps 2013 Softball Underclass All-American honoree. She is also a four-time academic all-league, has been named the Cowapa League Player of the Year three times and is a two-time OSAA Player of the Year. She was a part of two OSAA 4A State Championship runs winning it all in 2013 while being named the player of the game as her team finished second in 2015.

Last season Partain held a team-best batting average hitting a remarkable .769 with an on base percentage of .794. She played club ball for the NW Bullets, the same team current Gopher freshman Jessie Isham played for, winning numerous tournaments. She was also a four year varsity starter in volleyball being name all-conference all four seasons.
