MINNEAPOLIS -- Head coach Brad Frost and freshman Sarah Potomak met with the media prior to this weekend's series on the road at Minnesota State. No. 3 Minnesota (13-1-0, 9-1-0 WCHA) faces the Mavericks (2-13-1, 0-12-0 WCHA) at 2 p.m. CT Friday and Saturday afternoons.
Frost on taking one game at a time...
Frost: I think it's actually pretty easy. Mankato is a team within our conference. There are six big points on the line. We know that we will be facing Wisconsin here eventually, but our team has been really focused on playing week to week, and we've got a great match-up against the Mavericks this weekend.
Potomak on the series sweep over Yale...
Potomak: I think it was really successful weekend. Yale was a good team, a team we haven't really seen before and know about. So I think our team adapted well and we came out on top.
Frost on the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's team...
Frost: I don't know if there really is too much of a difference. We have so many of the same players, so we continue to play fast, provide a lot of pressure on the puck, play fairly well defensively. Our penalty kill still needs a little bit of tweaking, and our players need to change their mindset toward that. But, offensively, I think we're scoring as many goals as we ever had, and we're able to win some games because of it.
Potomak on finally being a Gopher...
Potomak: Minnesota was my dream, and I committed when I was in grade 10 so it felt like forever before I got here. But, I'm happy to finally be here and to come into a team like this with the past success is really cool.
On the transition to college hockey...
Potomak: I knew the team was really close, so when I came here, I fit in well with all of the girls and they were very welcoming. Adjusting to the game, I'm lucky enough to play with Hannah and Dani, so it's pretty easy to adjust with them.
