Set Breakdown:

Set 1: Minnesota erased an early deficit to come back and win the set, 25-23. Michigan opened up the first set with a 7-3 lead as the Golden Gophers called a timeout. Minnesota cut the lead to 9-7 off a Lohman kill and a Michigan attack error. The Wolverines later pushed the lead to 16-12, but Minnesota rattled off four-straight to tie the set at 16-16. After a Michigan attack error, Minnesota had a kill from Santana and Wilhite, while Wilhite and Lohman added a block to tie up the set. The tie forced Michigan to call a timeout. The two teams traded points and tied the set seven times before P Tapp and Lohman provided a block. Michigan called a timeout as the Gophers pushed it to set point. With the set on the line, Santana provided her seven kill of the set to put Minnesota up, 1-0

As the Wolverines held a 22-14 lead, the Gophers attempted a comeback and went on a 4-1 run, capped off by a Paige Tapp kill and a 23-18 deficit. The Wolverines, however, finished off the set with a Gopher attack error and a kill to tie the match at 1-1.
