Rashida Beal earned NSCAA Scholar All-Region/Central Region honors

Three Gophers Named NSCAA Scholars

MINNEAPOLIS - Three University of Minnesota women's soccer team earned NSCAA Scholar All-Region/Central Region honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Juniors Rashida Beal and Josee Stiever were named to the Second Team and Redshirt Senior Taylor Stainbrook earned Third Team honors. All three Gophers were selected to the Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Beal earned a 3.91 GPA with a major in Psychology and was also named to the NSCAA All-Great Lake's Second Team, the All-Big Ten Second Team as well as the Capital One Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Germantown, Wis. native stymied the Gophers' defensive attack attack in all Minnesota's 22 matches on the season. The Maroon and Gold collected ten shutouts in the 2015 campaign.

Stiever, the Communication Studies major earned a 3.44 GPA. The Cedarburg, Wis. native also earned a spot on the All-Great Lake's Region Second Team as well as the All-Big Ten Second Team and the Capital One Academic All-District Team (CoSIDA).

At midfield, Stiever started in all 22 games and combined for a total of 12 points with four goals and four assists with 22 shots on goal. She carries 13 goals and nine career assists.

Stainbrook, also a Communications Studies major earned a 3.57 GPA. The Apple Valley, Minn. native, has appeared in every game since transferring from NDSU. During her freshman year at North Dakota, Stainbrook was named to the Summit League All-Freshman Team as well as named to the league's Fall All-Academic Team as a Distinguished Scholar.

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament hosted at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium, Stainbrook scored two of the Maroon and Gold's 5-0 victory over South Dakota State. She holds nine goals and eight career assists.
