GAME DAY TID-BITS
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team finishes the non-conference portion of its schedule hosting Milwaukee on Wednesday night.
• The Panthers are coming off a double-overtime home loss to South Dakota on Thursday night which snapped a four-game winning streak.
• This is the Gophers' first meeting with a Horizon League team since Nov. 26, 2009 when the Gophers faced Butler (now a member of the BIG EAST) in the opening round of the 76 Classic in Anaheim.
• Forward Jordan Murphy was recognized by the Big Ten Conference as its Freshman of the Week on Dec. 7 after he posted two double-doubles (24pts/10rbs vs. Clemson, 19pts/17rbs vs. South Dakota).
• Murphy's 18 rebounds against Chicago State set a new Gophers freshman single-game record, and is the most since Trevor Mbakwe had 18 against North Dakota State on Dec. 11, 2012.
• Senior Joey King was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 17 after his performances at home in the opening weekend of the season. .
• King tied his career-high with six three-pointers and established a career-best with 22 points in 28 minutes against UMKC. King finished the game 7-of-10 from the field, including 6-of-9 from behind the three-point line. His previous career-high for points had been 21 points on two occasions, most recently versus Missouri State on Jan. 5, 2013, when he was a member of the Drake Bulldogs. King also had six treys during Minnesota's 80-68 win versus Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament on March 11, 2015.
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team will welcome three new members starting in 2016, as guard Amir Coffey (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS), forward Eric Curry (Little Rock, Ark./Southwest Christian Academy) and guard/forward Michael Hurt (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) signed their National Letters of Intent on Nov. 11. The trio represents the highest-rated signing class in Pitino's tenure, as the group is ranked 17th nationally by 247Sports and 20th in the nation by Scout.com. Both publications have listed the Gophers recruiting class as the third-highest ranked in the Big Ten.
