Before leaving for a short break from school and basketball, the Golden Gophers talked about special memories of the holiday season.

What is one of your favorite holiday memories?

Danielle Garven: My favorite holiday memory would be every year my family and I would go over to my grandma's house and all my cousins and family members would wake up at four in the morning to open presents together.

Joanna Hedstrom: One of my favorite holiday memories is going to the Browerville High School gym when I was younger to play shooting games with my aunts, uncles and cousins after Christmas dinner. I also loved opening gifts with my dad's side of the family on Christmas Eve. There are 30 cousins and many aunts and uncles so the craziness was always fun.

Do you have any favorite holiday traditions?

Mikayla Bailey: One of my favorite holiday traditions is on Christmas Day we all go over to my mom's brother's house and open up gifts and eat an amazing meal, then we always play a big game of Catch Phrase and it gets super competitive.

Allina Starr: One of my favorite holiday traditions is always looking forward to being with family at my nanna's house. It's always great to see family that you haven't seen in a while, especially because they come from out of state for holidays. At every holiday family event we always play this game called pokeno and its one of my favorites.

Shayne Mullaney: My favorite Christmas tradition is spending Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle's house. We eat a lot of yummy food and watch the movie "Christmas Vacation" every year.

What are your plans for the holidays this year?

Jessie Edwards: My plans for the Christmas holidays involve my dad flying from Australia, then both of us flying to New York and spending Christmas there together.

Annalese Lamke: My plan for this holiday season is to spend lots of time with my family. I also plan on catching up with some of my friends from high school.

Karley Barnes: I plan on returning home to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have not been home for Christmas since I graduated high school in 2012, so I'm pretty excited. Now that I'm close to home I am able to enjoy the holidays with my family.

Kynadi Johnson: I do not have any big plans for the holidays. My plan for the holidays will be staying here in Minnesota with my roomie, (Danielle) and just start a new tradition with her this year.

Rachel Banham: My plan for the holidays is to hang out with my family and eat a lot of yummy food. Being able to just sit on the couch and hang with my family and puppy is all I need for Christmas.

What was the best Christmas present you ever got?

Kenisha Bell: A moped. It was like a motor scooter. For some reason it just, out of nowhere, ended up breaking. I don't know how. I think my brothers crashed it.
