Duo Earns WCHA Monthly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS - Dani Cameranesi and Sarah Potomak have been selected as WCHA Players of the Month for their play during the month of November. Cameranesi is the WCHA Offensive Player of the Month, and Potomak is the WCHA Rookie of the Month for the second-straight month.

WCHA Offensive Player of the Month: Dani Cameranesi

Junior forward Dani Cameranesi led the nation with 18 points during the month of November. Her NCAA-best 3.00 points per game included eight goals and 10 assists. Cameranesi is on a seven-game point streak, during which she has 20 points (9g-11a). She had at least one goal in five of six games played during November with five multi-point games, including two multi-goal games.

Cameranesi has been a key member of the Gophers' nation-leading power-play unit in the month of November. Minnesota leads the nation at 49.0 percent (24/49) on the power play, including a WCHA-best 55.6 power-play percentage (10/18) during November. Cameranesi's six power-play points and four power-play goals led the WCHA last month as well.

The Plymouth, Minn., native also ranked second in the WCHA with eight goals, 1.33 goals per game, 10 assists, and 1.67 assists per game during November. She ranked third in the league with a +14 rating during the month, trailing only linemates Hannah Brandt and Potomak. Cameranesi's eight goals during November came on just 22 shots on goal, good for a WCHA-best .364 scoring percentage.

Cameranesi was also named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week this week following Minnesota's road series sweep at Minnesota State, during which she recorded six points on three goals and three assists. On the season, Cameranesi leads the NCAA with 2.38 points per game, eight power-play goals, 11 power-play points, and a .333 scoring percentage (18 goals on 54 shots on goal).

WCHA Rookie of the Month: Sarah Potomak

Freshman forward Sarah Potomak recorded 14 points on three goals and 11 assists, leading Minnesota to a 6-0-0 record during the month of November. Potomak had at least one point in five of six games played during the month. She led the WCHA with 11 assists and 1.83 assists per game. Her 14 points ranked third in the league only behind linemates Cameranesi and Brandt. She had a +15 rating, good for second in the league.

Among WCHA freshmen, Potomak led the league with 11 assists, 14 points, 1.83 assists per game, 2.33 points per game, four power-play assists, four power-play points, one game-winning goal, a +15 rating, 25 shots on goal, and 4.17 shots on goal per game during November.

Most recently, Potomak took home back-to-back WCHA Rookie of the Week awards following her four-point series as Minnesota swept Yale (Nov. 20-21) and a seven-point game in Minnesota's 11-1 win over Minnesota State (Nov. 27).

For the season, Potomak leads the NCAA with 26 total assists and 1.86 assists per game. She ranks second in the NCAA among all players with 2.36 points per game. Her seven power-play assists lead the WCHA and rank second in the NCAA. Potomak's 33 total points rank third in the league (behind linemates Cameranesi and Brandt) and fifth in the nation.

Cameranesi joins Kelly Pannek (Offensive Player of the Month-October) and Potomak (Rookie of the Month-October, November) among the Gophers who have received WCHA Players of the Month awards this season.
