Three Gophers Tab NSCAA Honors

MINNEAPOLIS - Three members of the University of Minnesota women's soccer team earned All-Great Lakes Region honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Junior Simone Kolander was named to the All-Great Lake's Region First Team and fellow juniors, Josee Stiever and Rashida Beal were named to the Second Team.

Kolander closed the 2015 campaign after starting in all 22 of the Gophers' matches and tallying ten goals to lead the team and also led in points (21), shots (53) and six of her ten goals were game-winners.

The forward was named B1G Offensive Player of the Week (9/22), espnW Player of the Week (9/23) and also earned the B1G Forward of the Year Award with being named to the conference First Team.

At midfield, Stiever started in all 22 games and combined for a total of 12 points with four goals and four assists with 22 shots on goal. The junior was also named to the All-Big Ten Second Team, named Big Ten Preseason to Watch List for the second year in a row and tabbed a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Team (CoSIDA).

Beal stymied the Gophers' defensive attack and started in all of Minnesota's 22 matches on the season. The junior earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team as well as the Capital One Academic All-District Team (CoSIDA). The Maroon and Gold collected ten shutouts in the 2015 campaign.
