Gophers Tie For 8th at UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Minnesota women's golf team jumped five spots up the team leaderboard on the final day of action at the UCF Challenge, finishing the tournament tied for eighth as the third round concluded Tuesday at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Minnesota, in their first competition of the spring season, carded a team score of 298 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 16-over-par (291-291-298-880), tied with Texas. Virginia captured the team title at -14 (282-275-293-850).



Freshman Celia Kuenster was the low Gopher, shooting an even-par 72 for the second day in a row to finish the tournament at -2 (70-72-72-214), part of a three-way tie for 11th place. Senior Carmen Laguna posted the lowest Minnesota round of the day with her two-under 70, giving her a share of 35th place in the tournament standings (76-75-70-221).



Sophomore Emie Peronnin was one stroke behind at six-over-par 222 (73-72-77), placing her in a tie for 42nd. Senior Anna Laorr finished three strokes behind, tied for 55th at +9 (73-73-79-225). Freshman Sabrine Garrison rounded out the Maroon and Gold, tying for 76th place at 13-over (75-74-80-229).



Virginia's Lauren Diaz-Yi and Vanderbilt's Jennifer Hahn tied for medalist honors at nine-under-par 207.



The Gophers return to action in three weeks, traveling back to the Sunshine State for the Miami Hurricane Invitational from March 2-5 at the Biltmore Golf Course.
