Team / Series Notes
• Today's game was the 168th all-time meeting in men's basketball between Minnesota and Purdue, with the Boilermakers holding a 91-77 lead in the series (not counting Minnesota's vacated games). Minnesota has a 51-30 edge in games played in Minneapolis.
• Head coach Richard Pitino's record at Minnesota improved to 40-22, while his three-year overall record now stands at 58-36.
• Today's game was Coach Pitino's fourth (2-2) against the Boilers, and he is now 13-18 versus teams from the Big Ten.
• Minnesota recorded its fourth-straight home win to improve to 13-2 at Williams Arena this season. The Gophers are now 31-5 at The Barn under Richard Pitino.
• Minnesota opened the second half with a 14-0 run over the first 3:45 to turn a four-point halftime deficit into a 10-point lead, 41-31. The Gophers then extended the run to 21-2 to stretch the lead to 15 points at the 10:39 mark.
• Today's attendance of 13,041 was the fourth-largest home crowd this season for Minnesota. A crowd of 13,421, the largest this season, attended the win against Illinois on Jan. 24. Minnesota is averaging 11,999 through 15 home dates.
• The Gophers entered the game ranked second nationally in steals per game (10.6) and sixth in assists (17.1), and tied their season-high with 17 steals, while dishing out 14 assists versus the Boilermakers.
• Minnesota forced 23 Purdue turnovers and had a 29-11 advantage in points scored off turnovers.
• The Gophers had a season-low eight turnovers for the fourth time this season.
• Three Minnesota players reached double figures for points, and seven of the 10 players who played in the game for the Gophers scored points.
• The Gophers made 7-of-15 (.467) three-pointers. It was the 21st time in the past 23 games that Minnesota made six or more treys in a game.
Individual Notes
• Senior guard Andre Hollins led all players with 18 points, while also tying for team-high honors with five rebounds, and adding two assists and two steals.
• Hollins increased his career point total to 1,658, and he remains sixth on Minnesota's all-time list. Kevin McHale (1977-80) is fifth with 1,704 points.
• Freshman guard Nate Mason came off the bench to record seven points to go along with two assists and a steal.
• Junior guard Carlos Morris had eight points, while notching a game-high five steals. He added three assists and three rebounds in the win.
• Senior forward Maurice Walker finished with 11 points on 4-of-6 field goals and 3-of-3 free throws. Walker also tied for team-high honors with five rebounds and had three steals and a pair of blocked shots.
• Senior guard DeAndre Mathieu led all players with six assists (no turnovers) and came up with three steals.
• Junior forward Joey King reached double figures with 11 points on 4-of-7 field goals, including 3-of-5 treys.
