Updated Facility Renderings

The University of Minnesota today released updated renderings of its proposed Athletics Village, showcasing the latest vision for some of the project's core elements. These images include an exterior rendering of the Center for Excellence, which will house a new academic center, a new leadership center and a new nutrition and wellness center, as well as interior spaces including the Center for Excellence's dining hall area and practice spaces for football and both men's and women's basketball. In total, the University shared 10 new images, all of which are available in the "Facilities Details" section of its website dedicated to providing information about the project, NothingShortOfGreatness.com.

"I am excited to share these updated renderings with our donors and fans," said Director of Athletics Norwood Teague. "We often talk about how outdated and overcrowded our current facilities are, but we cannot forget to continue sharing our vision for the future, when modern facilities will provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to achieve greatness, not only while they are here at the U of M, but for the rest of their lives after graduation."

Today's release of these new images marks another point of progress in the athletics department's Nothing Short of Greatness campaign to construct modern development facilities for Gopher student-athletes. The release of these renderings comes on the heels of an announcement two weeks ago that the University had selected M.A. Mortenson as the project's construction manager.

"Our Nothing Short of Greatness campaign has moved at a rapid pace since we began publicly fundraising about 10 months ago," added Teague. "We're maintaining an aggressive timeline with this project and I am very pleased with how everything, from design to fundraising, is progressing right now."

Once construction is completed, the core of the new Athletics Village will include a dramatically expanded academic center, a leadership center dedicated to student-athlete development, a nutrition center to house a dining hall and wellness programming, and training and indoor practice spaces for several Gopher programs. Existing buildings, such as the Bierman Field Athletics Building and the Gibson-Nagurski complex, will be updated for use by other Gopher athletic programs.
