Gopher Sports: Why did you decide to attend the University of Minnesota?

Jessica Plant: I felt that the U offered me opportunities to succeed academically and athletically. I was also excited to experience a new swimming and athletic community in the United States.

GS: What is your most memorable swimming/diving moment?

JP: The 800 freestyle relay at NCAA's my freshman year - we broke both our school and Big Ten records, came fifth, and all I can remember is having fun.

Also, it was a blast to win four Big Ten Championships in a row!

GS: What is your favorite part of being a Golden Gopher?

JP: For the past four years I have loved being able to train and travel with my best friends.

GS: What is your favorite pre-race song?

JP: This season it has been Salsa Tequila by Anders Nilsen.

GS: What is the best advice you have received from one of the coaches at Minnesota?

JP: "To get it, you have to gopher it"- unknown.

GS: What is your dream job?

JP: I would like to be able to do my own research and teach as a Professor.

GS: What is your favorite post-meet meal?

JP: Diotame and addaprin.

GS: Do you have any other hobbies outside of swimming/diving?

JP: I enjoy reading, traveling and fawning over my roommate's (Chloe Portela) golden retriever.

GS: What do you plan on doing after graduation?

JP: I plan on attending graduate school for art history/archaeology.

GS: Want to give a shout out to anyone?

JP: I would like to give a shout out to my father for making it to every Big Ten championship, my sister for being my number one fan and adviser, and mother Janice Winiarz, who has waited 5 months for this post.
