LINCOLN, Neb. -- The No. 12 Minnesota softball team ran its program-record win streak to 15 games with an 8-3 victory against Nebraska at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Neb. Saturday afternoon. The Gophers are now 29-4 on the season with a 5-0 mark in the Big Ten and a 14-0 ledger in road games.

The Maroon and Gold has won its first five conference games for the first time since 1996.

After two scoreless innings, Minnesota got on the board first in the third with an RBI single up the middle by Sara Groenewegen. Hannah Granger padded the Gopher lead later in the frame with a two-run double.

After Nebraska knotted the score at three in the fourth, Tyler Walker answered for Minnesota by leading off the fifth with her team-leading ninth home run of the season. She now has six homers in as many games and has 42 for her career, the third-most in school history.

Walker struck again in the sixth. With two outs and a 1-2 count, the San Jose, Calif. native doubled to plate Erika Rozell and Paige Palkovich. Danielle Parlich cushioned the Gophers' advantage with a two-run single in the top of the seventh, putting an end to the game's scoring.

In the circle, freshman Kylie Stober improved to 6-1 by pitching effectively for four innings. Nikki Anderson contributed two scoreless innings of relief before Groenewegen closed out the game by fending the Huskers off in the seventh.

The Gophers conclude their series with Nebraska Sunday at noon. Minnesota is set to open its home schedule next weekend against No. 4 Michigan.
