Gopher Sports: Why did you decide to attend the University of Minnesota?

Chloe Portela: I came to the University of Minnesota because I could see myself making a future here. As cliché as it sounds, the team became my family from the minute I arrived on campus.

GS: What is your most memorable swimming moment?

CP: During senior day my freshman year we got to do the slip n' slide off the 5m platform... that will never be forgotten.

GS: What is your favorite part of being a Golden Gopher?

CP: I love having so many friends that care about me and bring out my best qualities.

GS: What is your favorite pre-race song?

CP: The Minnesota rouser of course.

GS: What is the best advice you have received from one of the coaches at Minnesota?

CP: Terry Ganley always tells me to just have fun with it, and Terry is always right.

GS: What is your dream job?

CP: My dream job is to become a nurse practitioner in a pediatric cardio-thoracic unit at a children's hospital.

GS: What is your favorite post-meet meal?

CP: It's a toss up between Chipotle and Noodles and Company. The cookies at Noodles might give them a leg up though.

GS: Do you have any other hobbies outside of swimming/diving?

CP: Playing with my golden retriever puppy became my main hobby this year, but I also love photography and fashion.

GS: What do you plan on doing after graduation?

CP: I plan to get my masters of nursing license (hopefully here at the U).

GS: Want to give a shout out to anyone?

CP: Big shout out to my family, especially my brother Anthony, and my friends for helping me survive the last 3 years. Couldn't have done it without them.
