Gophers Finish 13th at Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. - The University of Minnesota women's golf team wrapped up their 2014-15 regular season campaign on Tuesday at the final round of the Silverado Showdown, where the Gophers finished 13th. Leading the way was senior Carmen Laguna, who tied for 20th place at nine-over par (74-74-77), her second top-20 finish of the year.

Firing the low Gopher round of the day was sophomore Emie Peronnin, whose two-over-par 74 helped her move three spots up the leaderboard to a tie for 32nd at 13-over-par (78-77-74--229). Freshman Celia Kuenster tied for 66th place (78-77-85--240), while the senior duo of Anna Laorr (80-87-76--243) and Sarinee Thitiratanakorn (83-84-82--249) placed 70th and tied for 73rd, respectively.

As a team, the Gophers finished the tournament at +67 (310-312-309--931), while co-host Oregon took the team title at 25-over-par 889, edging Oregon State by one stroke. California's Lucia Gutierrez was the tournament's individual medalist at four-under-par (73-71-68--212).

Next up for the Gophers is the Big Ten Championships held in Indianapolis, Ind. at the Fort Golf Course. Competition will span over three days beginning Friday, April 24 with the Big Ten individual and team champions being crowned on Sunday, April 26.
