Gopher Athletics Gears Up for 2015 Gopher Road Trip

It's spring in Minnesota, which means the trees are blooming, the lakes are thawing and Gopher Athletics will once again hit the road to visit towns throughout greater Minnesota for the department's annual Gopher Road Trip. This year's excursion -- a two-leg, four-day extravaganza -- features eight scheduled events across the state and impromptu stops in towns along the way. Director of Athletics Norwood Teague, along with Gopher coaches, student-athletes and Goldy, will pile into the Road Trip bus for the trip.
"The Gopher Road Trip is one of my favorite events each year," said Teague. "I love that we have an opportunity each spring to get out of the Twin Cities and spend time with our fans around the entire state of Minnesota. It's a fun adventure for us, one which allows us to show our fans in greater Minnesota how much we appreciate their support."
The 2015 edition of the Road Trip will once again be split into two trips, one which will venture to the west and north of the Twin Cities and another that will head to the south.
The first of these two trips -- the Maroon Trip -- will take place on Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, stopping in Spicer, Alexandria, Detroit Lakes and Park Rapids. The following week, the Gold Trip will be on the road on Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3 to visit Winona, Rochester, Mankato and Hutchinson.
Each of these events is open to the public, but space is limited. Registering to attend events in advance via the Gopher Road Trip website is highly encouraged, as some may reach capacity quickly. For full details on these events and to register to attend, please visit MyGopherSports.com.
In addition to scheduled stops, the 2015 Gopher Road Trip will also stop several times along the route for quick meet and greets with as many fans as possible.
Last year, more than 2,000 Gopher fans attended events on the Gopher Road Trip, the most in the event's history.
