Gophers Seventh After Day One at B1G Champs

INDIANAPOLIS -
Through the first 18 holes of the 2015 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, the Minnesota women's golf team stands in seventh place at 298. A pair of Gophers are among the top-20 after the first day of action at The Fort Golf Course.

Sophomore Emie Peronnin and freshman Sabrine Garrison are tied at one-over-par 73, each sitting in 17th place. Senior Carmen Laguna is two strokes behind, tied for 29th with an opening-round 75. Freshman Celia Kuenster is tied for 44th after her 77 Friday, while seniors Anna Laorr and Sarinee Thitiratanakorn are among a tie for 52nd place at six-over-par 78.

Minnesota trails sixth-place Wisconsin by three strokes, while Ohio State captured the first-round lead at 281. The Buckeyes' Jan Chanpalangsri is atop the individual leaderboard with a four-under-par 68.

The Big Ten Women's Golf Championships resume Saturday at 7:30 a.m. ET.
