The Top 10.0 Things You Need to Know
1.0 -Â The No. 17-ranked University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will travel to Auburn, Ala. on Saturday, April 4 for the 2015 NCAA Regionals. The Gophers will compete against No. 5 Alabama, No. 8 Auburn, No. 23 Iowa, George Washington and Maryland for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships in two weekends.
2.0 -Â The event will begin at 6 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on SEC Network+ on the WatchESPN application. Fans who cannot be in attendance at Auburn Arena can follow @GopherWGym on Twitter for live updates and the live stats to see the latest scores during the event.Â
3.0 - The No. 3-seeded Gophers will be joined by No. 5 Alabama who earned the top-seed in the region, host and No. 8-ranked Auburn as well as Big Ten foes No. 23 Iowa and Maryland. George Washington rounds out the six teams competing at Auburn Arena. Six teams were named to each of the six predetermined host sites. The other sites include Ames, Iowa (Iowa State University), Berkeley, Calf. (University of California, Berkeley), Columbus, Ohio (The Ohio State University), Morgantown, W.V., (West Virginia University) and Norman, Okla. (Oklahoma University). The top two teams from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Fort Worth, Texas set for April 17-19. 4.0 - Two weekends ago, the Golden Gophers finished in sixth place at the 2015 Big Ten Championships held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Minnesota tallied a team score of 196.450. The University of Michigan won its second consecutive Big Ten title after leading the ten team field with an overall score of 197.825. Illinois and Nebraska rounded out the top three finishers. Junior Lindsay Mable earned two individual event titles en route to a runner-up finish in the all-around competition. Mable was joined by sophomore Rachel Haines on the All-Big Ten Championships Team as the two gymnasts were recognized for their outstanding performances in the league competition. Haines tallied a career-high 9.925 on vault to land in a three-way tie for second place. The season-high for Mable and career-high for Haines on vault helped propel the Gophers early in the competition. Senior Cierra Tomson was awarded with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for her outstanding display of school pride and dedication to the sport throughout the season.
5.0 - Junior Lindsay Mable is currently ranked second in the nation in the all-around competition. This season, the Aurora, Colo. native has earned 29 individual event titles and ten all-around crowns. Mable became the first Golden Gopher to be ranked in the top spot in the all-around competition and she has earned six Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors. Mable became the first Minnesota gymnast in school history to pick up five plus weekly conference laurels in a season since the award started recognizing student-athletes on a weekly basis in 1999. Gopher great Laura Johnson earned the award four times in 2006. Mable won the vault and floor exercise individual event titles at the 2015 Big Ten Championships before being named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Year. Mable was also named to the All-Championship Team following a successful league championships performance. Last week, Mable was named a regular season First Team All-American on balance beam and in the all-around competition while picking up Second Team All-America laurels on floor exercise and vault. Nationally, Mable sits in the top 20 in three events including vault (10t), balance beam (6) and floor (10t).
6.0 - Minnesota moved up one spot from No. 19 two weeks ago to No. 17 after placing sixth at the 2015 Big Ten Championships with a score of 196.450. The Golden Gophers have a regional qualifying score of 196.450 and are one of five conference teams to be ranked in the top 20 nationally. The squad holds a No. 19 ranking on vault (49.255), No. 23 on uneven bars (48.980), tied for No. 19 on balance beam (49.045) and No. 18 on floor exercise (49.200).

8.0 - Gophers returned 9 gymnasts from 2014 including two-time All-American and Big Ten all-around Champion, Lindsay Mable, as well as Gopher standouts in seniors Jenny Covers and Cierra Tomson. Minnesota had a successful 2014 season where they won their second consecutive Big Ten regular season title and advanced to the NCAA Regional held at the University of Minnesota. Minnesota welcomed five new members to the family at the beginning of the academic year. Freshmen Abby DeMuse, Bailey Gardner, Ciara Gardner,Hannah Hitchcock and Rachel Rowland made their regular season debut when the Gophers hosted Iowa State in January.
9.0 - The back-to-back Big Ten Conference regular season champions were tabbed to place fifth in the Big Ten this season. Juniors Lindsay Mable and Madeline Hanley were named as gymnasts to watch this season.The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned the coveted top spot in the coaches' poll while No. 2 Nebraska and No. 3 Illinois round out the top three. Minnesota will face top-ranked Michigan on Saturday. The Wolverines have the opportunity to claim the Big Ten regular season championship outright on Saturday.
