Gophers Announce 2015 Fall Schedule

The University of Minnesota softball team has announced its 2015 fall schedule. The Golden Gophers will play in doubleheaders at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium against three opponents: St Could State, North Dakota State and Minnesota Duluth.
Admission to all fall games is free.
Minnesota hits the field for the first time Friday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. against St. Cloud State. The following week they will take on North Dakota State on Saturday, Oct. 3 starting at 1 p.m. They will wrap up fall play six days later against Minnesota Duluth on Friday, Oct. 9 starting at 6 p.m.
Under Coach Jessica Allister the Gophers went 49-11 last season and have made three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. They filled the trophy case with five players earning All-Big Ten, a record seven named all-region, a record 14 earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, a Senior Class All-American in Kaitlyn Richardson, Academic All-American in Erica Meyer and the Big Ten Player of the Year and All-American in Sara Groenewegen.
The group graduated seven players. Some key returning players this season will be 2015 Big Ten Player of the Year Sara Groenewegen, NFCA Freshman of the Year Top-10 finalist Danielle Parlich, All-Big Ten and first team all-region Sam Macken and third team all-region Taylor LeMay who has started 113 out of 116 games behind the plate for the Gophers the past two seasons.
