Taney Up For Best Athlete in MSHSL History

Associate head women's tennis coach Whitney Taney is up for the "Best of the Best' in Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) history.
The MSHSL, a collection of nearly 500 Minnesota schools, is celebrating its 100 year anniversary by putting together a competition to find the "Best of the Best" athlete and coach. They have put togheter a bracket of the top 100 all-time players going against each other in four regionals named after MSHSL Executive Directors and another four regionals of the top 100 all-time coaches named after top nicknames in the state such as Eagle and Tiger.
Taney went undefeated (166-0, 150-0 in singles) during her prep tennis career before graduating in 2006. She lost just two sets in high school and won five individual state championships, claiming three in singles and two in doubles. She is the No. 17 seed in the players bracket and already topped the No. 1 seed in the bracket. She is up in the boting again this week. The voting starts ends every Wednesday evening.
