Kuenster Wins Minnesota Invitational

2015 Minnesota Invitational Final Results 
Sophomore Celia Kuenster sank a three-foot par putt on the final hole to capture medalist honors, winning the 2015 Minnesota Invitational by one stroke on a warm, windy Tuesday afternoon at The Minikahda Club.
Kuenster (68-72-73--213) edged defending champion Frida Gustafsson Spang by one stroke to win her first collegiate tournament at three-under-par 213. She is the first individual Gopher medalist since Anna Laorr shared first place at the 2014 BYU Entrada Classic.
As a team, the Gophers tied for fourth place, matching Kent State with a total of 895 (292-305-298). Purdue claimed the team title with a score of 884.
Sophomore Sabrine Garrison finished tied for 34th at 13-over-par (76-75-78--229), while classmate Heather Ciskowski was one stroke behind in a tie for 38th (71-82-77--230). Junior Emie Peronnin shot the low Gopher round of the day at two-under-par 70, helping her to finish tied for 44th (77-86-70--233). Freshman Muyu Wu completed the Gopher lineup and finished tied for 52nd (79-76-81--236).
The Gophers had three individual competitors, led by freshman Niamh Ward who finished tied for 44th (74-83-76-233). Fellow freshman Maggie Heggerston finished tied for 52nd (76-81-79-236), while sophomore Alexandra Buska placed 66th (99-85-84-268).
Minnesota returns to action next week, traveling to the Mercedes-Benz Invitational on September 21-22, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.
