Minnesota now trails in the all-time series with Michigan State by a slim 58-56 margin. Today's game was just the 21st win in Minneapolis for MSU, which trails 33-21 in games played at Williams Arena.

MURPHY JUST MISSES A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Jordan Murphy led all scorers with 10 points at halftime, and finished the game with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, narrowly missing his sixth double-double of the season. The freshman, who started his third-straight game, attempted a career-high 18 field goals, making seven, but was 0-for-4 at the free throw line. Four of Murphy's rebounds came at the offensive end of the floor, and he grabbed eight rebounds in the second half.

MASON HAS SOLID ALL-AROUND OUTING
Nate Mason reached double-figures for the eighth time in the past nine games (11th time this season), as he led the Gophers with 16 points on 3-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Mason also grabbed a career-high six rebounds, while dishing out three assists with zero turnovers.

DORSEY IN DOUBLE-DIGITS
Kevin Dorsey reached double-figures for the fourth time this season, making 4-of-9 field goals to finish with 11 points against the Spartans. The freshman guard added one rebound, one assist (no turnovers) and a steal in 25 minutes.

KONATE PLAYS WELL
Bakary Konate made his 12th start of the season, finishing with six points on 3-of-4 shooting, while also pulling down six boards, blocking a team-high two shots and coming up with a steal in just 21 minutes.

MINNESOTA PROTECTS THE BALL
The Gophers did a great job limiting turnovers in the game, as they had a season-best four turnovers versus the Spartans, while forcing Michigan State into 11 turnovers. Minnesota had a 14-6 advantage in points off turnovers. The team's previous best had been six turnovers in the win against Clemson on Nov. 30.
