Eastman Leads Gophers at Jack's Run

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - Molly Eastman (21:32.6) and Courtney Alama (21:38.5) ran career-best six-kilometer times to lead the Golden Gophers at Jack's Twilight Run Friday night at Les Bolstad Course.
Forty-one runners participated in Jack's Twilight Run. Eastman was the top female finisher, leading 25 Gophers and 27 women total, while Joe Moore of the Twin Cities Track Club was the overall leader in 17:59.1.
In total, 21 Gophers ran career-best times and the other four ran season bests. Behind Eastman and Alama, Carlin Schulz (21:54.0), Megan Flanagan (22:03.3), Tess Wasowicz (22:11.9), Danielle Anderson (22:12.0), and Elyse Prescott (22:12.5) made up the top seven attached Gopher finishers.
Jack's Twilight Run honors the late Minnesota equipment manager Jack Johnson. Johnson will always be a part of the Minnesota women's cross country and track programs. After serving as the Golden Gophers' equipment manager for over three decades, Johnson passed away in February 2006 after a battle with cancer.
The Gophers host the 2016 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Oct. 30 to kick off the postseason next weekend. The women's 6K race is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT with the men's 8K race to follow at 11 a.m. CT at Les Bolstad Course.
