Gophers Head to Louisville for Final Fall Tourney

The Minnesota women's golf team hits the road for the final time this fall, traveling to Simpsonville, Ky. to compete in the Cardinal Cup. The 16-team field will take on the par-72, 6,393 yard UofL Golf Club.
Teams tee off Sunday and Monday at 10 a.m. ET followed by a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start on Tuesday.
Minnesota joins a talented field consisting of six teams ranked in Golfstat's top 50. No. 7 Florida State, No. 33 East Carolina, No. 48 Kentucky, No. 50 Louisville, Columbia, Middle Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Cincinnati, Richmond, Bradley and Ball State make up the field along with Big Ten rivals Illinois, Maryland and No. 42 Wisconsin.
Senior Emie Peronnin leads Minnesota's lineup this week coming off of an impressive performance last week. Joining Peronnin is junior Sabrine Garrison, junior Heather Ciskowski, sophomore Muyu Wu and sophomore Maggie Heggerston.. Sophomore Niamh Ward will compete as an individual.
Minnesota last competed at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. Peronnin was the Gophers' top performer, posting her lowest score of the day in the final round. Her 2-under-par 70 helped her leap into the top 20 for the first time this season. Garrison also saved her best for last, shooting even par in the final round to jump into 25th place. Overall, Minnesota finished the tournament in eighth place.
