MINNEAPOLIS - Redshirt sophomore Molly Eastman has been selected as this week's Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Week, the Big Ten announced Wednesday. Eastman won the individual crown at Jack's Twilight Run in a career-best six-kilometer time of 21:32.6 last Friday.

With her winning time, Eastman improved on her previous 6K PR by 13.2 seconds, which she set the previous week at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (21:51.7). Eastman edged teammate Courtney Alama (21:38.5) for the top spot in Jack's Run at Minnesota's Les Bolstad Course. She averaged a pace of 5:47 per mile and led a field of 27 women total, including 25 Gophers.

Eastman is having a career-best year for the Gophers in her second season racing in uniform. She has finished among Minnesota's top 12 runners in all five races this season and has set back-to-back career-bests in her last two 6Ks. A native of Victoria, Minn., Eastman also set a 5K career-best time of 18:06.1 at the Notre Dame Invitational.

As Minnesota's top finisher at Jack's Twilight Run, Eastman earned a place on Minnesota's Big Ten Championship roster. The Gopher host the B1G meet at 10 a.m. CT this Sunday at Les Bolstad Course.
