Traffic Advisory: B1G Championships on Sunday
10/28/2016 12:00:00 AM | Women's Cross Country
Fans visiting the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus this Sunday for either the 2016 Big Ten Cross Country Championship or the Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal game are advised to plan ahead and consider the best options for inbound driving routes and parking.
Twenty-six cross country teams will toe the line at Les Bolstad Course beginning with the women's six-kilometer race at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the men's eight-kilometer race at 11 a.m. CT. Minnesota soccer will host Indiana, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. CT.
Because of the close proximity of the two venues and the start times of the events, traffic may be greater than normal in the area. Fans should also plan to use recommended parking for each event, which is outlined below.
Cross Country Parking
Parking is available in Lot S101 (on the corner of Cleveland and Commonwealth) and the Gortner Ave. Ramp. Shuttles will transport fans to the golf course. Fans are advised to park on city streets at their own risk. More info: z.umn.edu/b1gxc16
Soccer Parking
Parking is available at Gibbs Farm, the Les Bolstad Driving Range, and the Falcon Heights City Hall. Fans can also take a free shuttle to the game from the Bierman Field Athletic Building in Dinkytown (516 15th Ave. SE), which will transport fans to the game starting one hour before kickoff until halftime (approx. 45 minutes after start of game). After picking up at Bierman, the shuttle also stops at Territorial Hall. The shuttle makes return runs to Bierman five minutes and 30 minutes after the game. More info: http://z.umn.edu/gscpark
