Longbella Named B1G Golfer of the Week

University of Minnesota freshman Thomas Longbella has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week. It is the first such honor for the Chippewa Falls, Wis., native.

Longbella tied for 12th at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic last weekend. His Round 2 score of 63 was tied for the second-best in program history. Longbella finished 5 under for the tournament with a 54-hole score of 208.

At the end of the fall, Longbella leads the team with a 71.33 scoring average. He finished the fall with two consecutive top-20 finishes, and has had all 15 of his scores count toward the team total.

Before Longbella, the most recent Gopher to earn this award was Rúnar Arnorsson on March 24, 2016.
