Opening Statement...
" Thank you all for being here at the home opener. First of all, credit to Harvard; I thought they came in and fought really hard and shot the ball extremely well, which is not always easy to do in our house. I thought for us that you got a glimpse of our ability to pressure at certain positions. We will certainly continue to improve in some areas that way, but I really liked our ability to force turnovers. We had 33 points off of turnovers and as a program that is a move in the right direction."
On the pressure they established after calling a timeout at 40-40…
"We thought they were getting a lot of looks when we were there but we were not necessarily putting enough pressure on the person that had the ball, we were almost daring them to shoot, so it wasn't a case where we were always late. We were late a few times but on some of those we were standing right there. We talked about putting more pressure on the ball in your area, whether you're in the zone or man-to-man, and we need to rebound the ball. I thought those two things really ignited our transition."
On if she was surprised by how comfortable and aggressive the freshman looked today…
"Jasmine and Gadiva and Taiye enjoy playing defense and they relish in that. Gadiva led us with 5 steals and I think that they get excited when they can get a turnover or a steal and turn that into easy buckets for us. They're quick enough and fast enough to bother a lot of people at the perimeter."
