Golden Gopher Simone Kolander has been named one of ten women's soccer finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award, announced today by the award committee.

Kolander is a two-time Big Ten Forward of the Year and two-time captain. Kolander led the conference in points this season with 28 (11 goals, 6 assists). Off the field, Kolander is a communications major who has held an internship with KSTP, and has spent time volunteering at local organizations.

To be elligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition.

A national committee will select ten finalists to be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. The winner will be announced during the 2016 Women's College Cup Championships in December.

Kolander is also on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, which is the most prestigious individual award in collegiate soccer.

Vote for Kolander now through Nov. 21.
